Early last week Stuff was kindly invited to attend the launch evening for Bristol Cabot Circus’ stunning new eastern Mediterranean restaurant, The Real Greek. We were already aware of the restaurant’s glowing reviews but when we found out that a ‘Pimp your Hummus’ station ran by Tonia Buxton, presenter of The Greek Kitchen was to feature there we jumped at the thoughtful invitation (being the complete foodies we are…)
We arrived to a modern, fresh looking venue on the 3rd floor of Bristol’s main shopping centre and were greeted by the restaurant’s manager, Jonny Koumourou, and his fantastic smiling staff. Jonny showed us to our table right next to the kitchen so we could watch the chefs in action.
We indulged (and thoroughly enjoyed) the flavourful Greek cuisine with some their trademark dishes – falafel, chicken skewers, lamb kefte and even some grilled octopus. Excited to get involved in the hummus station, we ran over to Tonia and her team to be taught the true ways of hummus. Getting into the groove by mashing up chickpeas, salt, cumin, garlic, chili and more, we must say that our creations were delicious (it admittedly does taste even better when you make it yourself)!
All in all, the atmosphere on the night was electric, the service from all of the staff was impeccable and the dishes served to us throughout the evening were truly remarkable. We’d like to thank Tonia, Jonny and all of his team for a wonderful night, we’ve let the rest of our team know and we’ll all no doubt be visiting again in the near future.
