We consider knowledge to be power here at Stuff, that’s why after our busy summer of success we’ve decided to kickstart up our #StuffTalks up again! This is where each month, a member of the team picks a specialist subject they are passionate about to share, educate and present to everyone on a morning over a spot of breakfast in our boardroom.
Being fairly new to the team, I thought it would be good to step up and give the inaugural presentation on the ever-changing subject that is Search Engine Optimisation. This included all of the stages, elements and techniques that formulate the complex subject as well as what we can do as an agency to deliver the best service possible to our clients.
The Four Stages of SEO
The presentation focused on the 4 key stages that make up SEO:
- On-Page Optimisation
- Off-Page Optimisation
Not only did we run through the different elements of the process but ideas from all departments were flying between one another on what we can be doing to enhance our own SERP presence and go that extra mile for our clients on their search campaigns.
At the start of any project we hold a strategy meeting so we can get a clear understanding of, the client’s current situation, what tactics they are currently adopting, the results they are currently achieving and what they need to achieve in order to reach their target market and business goals. This is the information we use to inform our recommendations and develop a strategic plan that works with the 3 remaining stages of our SEO process.
Through human analysis and SEO software tools, we can identify the technical status of a website from crawl errors to their meta presence as well as link equities of the site. All of which help to highlight which categorised keywords we will be focusing on over the campaign and how we can embed them within our content marketing and link building efforts.
The Advantage of Analysis
Most of all, the analysis is the key component in any digital campaign, through the use of analytics and webmaster tools we can keep a continuous view of the search campaign’s success through search traffic, search appearance and crawl status’. SEO is an iterative process that requires fresh regular content and technical optimisation practices to ensure you are complying with the regular search giant’s algorithm changes.
